Open Question: I would like to delete my sbc address due to spam?

The first address we had ends with sbcglobal.net. I have several others which are Yahoo disposable, the only ones I use. Someone got my sbc address and I am bombarded with spam of all kinds, from Romania. I want to delete the sbc address. Please provide much details, and links to investigate it more.
