Open Question: is any possibility to recognize my driving license from romania in Toronto?

So here is my situation : I just came from Romania(europe ) in Toronto, and i want to buy a car but i don't know what i am supposed to do with my driving license , since i have full driving license for cars and truck , with 21 years experience, with no accident. From what i have heard,i should start taking g1, but it's hard for me to believe that i will loose the 21 years experience and have to start as a teenager, since i have a lot of experience behind.
